Daniel/Janet  --  song by Paul Byrom  --  January 2010  -–  23.5 MB

Wanted to do something in honor of the January 12, 2010 Ultimate Daniel/Janet Party.  This is it.  I apologize that the file size is bigger than what I’ve done in the past.  My time was limited, and I’ve not had a chance to do smaller versions.  Also not sure why there are the bars/borders on the sides and, sometimes, top of the vid screen frame.  Hopefully it isn’t too distracting.

Something to Talk About

This is the very first video I ever made.  But, in celebration of the January 12, 2010 Ultimate Daniel/Janet Party, I wanted folks to be able to watch it again, so I’ve moved it here to the top of the page.  Enjoy!

Daniel/Janet -- rated 'teen & above viewers' -- song by Bonnie Raitt -- Fall 2003 -- 9.5 MB

Author's Notes:  When I succumbed to the influence of Dan/Jan ship, I soon discovered that I could blame it all on Michael Shanks and Teryl Rothery. J Apparently during filming season 4, those two decided to add a bit of 'chemistry' between the characters here and there.  (You can read details of this revelation here.)  With inspiration like that, this song came to mind and I knew I simply had to use it for my very first vid.  Oh, and as a self-imposed limitation, I restricted the use of clips to only those from seasons 4, 5, or 7.

2007vid-award.jpgGod Blessed the Broken Road

Daniel/Janet  -- rated 'teen & above viewers'  -- song by Rascal Flatts -- October 2007 -- 13.5 MB

One day on the Yahoo Dan/Jan list, Brynn suggested that this song would make a nice vid for our favorite pairing. So, I opted to give it a go. This is the result. Brynn, I hope you enjoy! (There's also a 20.6 MB version, if you prefer. The frame size is a little larger, but I think this version actually has a little less clarity in the picture.)

Determination

Daniel/Janet  -- rated 'older teen & above viewers'  -- song by Shania Twain -- May 2006 -- 8.3 MB

Confidence, dedication, determination - these are characteristics that describe Janet Frasier to me, and I tend to think she applies the same get-it-done attitude in her personal life that we always saw of her professional role on the show.  Thus imagine what it could be like of she ever set her sights on a particular archaeologist...

And inspiration comes from the oddest places.  I was exercising at Curves the other day and this song was among the ones playing in the background.  When someone made a comment about the "fine piece of real estate" line, I began to wonder if the song might not make a good video.  (It also caused me to grin and have to fight a fit of giggles, but there you go.)  You'll have to let me know if the song really works or not.  ; )

Feels Like Home

Daniel/Janet  -- rated 'teen & above viewers'  -- song by Chantal Kreviazuk -- April 2005 -- 11.8 MB

Heard this song on a movie soundtrack, plus was in serious need of a creative outlet, and tah-dah - new video!

Coming Home

episode (Fallen/Homecoming), team,  -- rated 'teen & above viewers'  -- song, Drifting, by Sarah McLachlan -- Feb 2005 -- 9.0 MB

One True Thing

episode (Lifeboat), Dan/Jan,  -- rated 'teen & above viewers'  -- song, Push, by Sarah McLachlan -- Feb 2005 -- 9.8 MB

Author's Notes:  Both of these are for my friend Mary, because she was commenting in a LiveJournal thread one day that these two McLachlan songs would make great episode vids.  After hearing both songs, I simply had to agree with her.

All I Want for Christmas

Daniel/Janet holiday,  -- rated 'teen & above viewers'  -- song by Mariah Carrey -- Dec 2004 -- 9.8 MB

Author's Notes:  Consider this my Christmas gift to Daniel/Janet Shippers everywhere - especially that crazy bunch over and DanandJan on Yahoo.  I love you guys - thanks for helping to feed my madness.  If you squee half as much watching this as I did while making it, then I think you're going to enjoy it.  Merry Christmas!!

Always

Daniel/Janet,  -- rated 'teen & above viewers'  -- song by Atlantic Star -- Nov 2004 -- 10 MB

Author's Notes:  Threw this one together on impulse... spur of the moment... no pre-planning at all (other than it was a song I'd thought I'd like to use for a vid some day).  Not really sure if I'm pleased with the completed product or not.  Lesson learned: never, ever, do a video on impulse again.  The process is entirely too frustrating!  (Nominated for 2005 Stargate Video Awards, Daniel/Janet category)

In the Eye of the Beholder

Dan/Jan, Sam/Jack, Sheppard/Weir -- rated 'teen & above viewers'  -- song Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler -- Nov 2004 -- 16.9 MB

Author's Notes:  I've been mulling this one around in my head for weeks, so I'm rather excited to finally have the finished product!  First, I apologize about the large file size, but I chose to use the long version (6+ min) of the song.  Second, the impetus behind this one... I really am a romantic at heart.  It's nearly inevitable that I'll see ship pairings in all my favorite TV shows/films.  So this vid is my way of saying how much I've enjoyed being a shipper for Stargate.  And remember, ship really is in the eye of the beholder. (Nominated for 2005 Stargate Video Awards, Crossover category)

A couple of vids by special request...

Ready to Take a Chance Again

Daniel/Sha're, Daniel/Janet -- rated 'teen & above viewers'  -- song by Barry Manilow -- Nov 2004 -- 7.6 MB

How Can I Stop Loving You?

Daniel/Janet (Heroes based) -- rated 'teen & above viewers'  -- song by Barry Manilow -- Nov 2004 -- 12.3 MB

Author's Notes:  An acquaintance on the Dan/Jan list (who also happens to be a Manilow fan like myself) contacted me one day to ask if I'd consider doing a couple of vids.  The moment I saw the suggested titles, I knew I had to say yes!  The first one is intended to basically tell the story of how Janet taught Daniel to love again, after the death of Sha're.  The second one is something of a tribute to Heroes, although it also projects into season 8.  Be warned, the angst level is high.  Have the tissue box handy, and a happy vid in the queue to watch afterwards.

Breaking the Habit

Daniel, Daniel/Janet  -- rated 'teen & above viewers'  -- song by Linkin Park -- October 2004 -- 8.3 MB

Author's Notes:  This one was a joint effort with my friend Meg.  She wanted a video to go with a novel she was writing.  She picked the song and which clips to use - I simply put it all together for her.  If you ask me, she did the really difficult part.

Nice

Daniel/Janet -- rated 'teen & above viewers'  -- song Nice by Duran Duran -- October 2004 -- 8.25 MB

Author's Notes:  Gee, it's been twenty years since I was all googly over Duran Duran, but  they decided to get back together to release a new album and WHAM!  Apparently they still have an influence, and it's crossing over into my other fandoms.  This is a companion video to the story Renovations.

Fever

Daniel/Janet -- rated 'older teen & above viewers'  -- song Fever by Kylie Minogue -- August 2004 -- 9.4 MB

Author's Notes:  I made this one rather quickly.  As a result I'm not as pleased with it as some of the others.  (I know, I'm too much of a perfectionist - if it bothers me enough I'll go back and re-work it some day.)  The concept for this one is pretty straightforward... poor Doc Frasier has got it bad, and a certain doctor of archaeology is the only one who has the cure.  J

Wild Boys

team vid (more or less)/action -- rated 'older teen & above viewers'  -- song Wild Boys by Duran Duran -- April 2004 -- 11.4 MB

Author's Notes:  The title pretty much sums it up!  J  It's those fabulous lads from the SGC, doing what they do best.  I tried to make the clips fit with the lyrics, while also choosing some of my favorite SG-1 moments.  Although this one primarily features Jack, Daniel, and Teal'c, look for a few guest appearances toward the very end.  Hope you enjoy!  Also please note - the first few seconds of this video are intended to play in silence.  So, no, your computer is not wacking out on you or anything.

Survivor

Daniel vid --  rated 'teen & above viewers'  -- song Ordinary World by Duran Duran -- April 2004 -- 11.3 MB

Author's Notes:  I've wanted to make a Daniel focused video for some time.  Listening to this song a few days ago, it struck me as being fairly descriptive, at least in a general sense of how I perceive Daniel's character.  He's always been my favorite, even since the original film.  He's optimistic and idealistic - not oblivious to reality, but continually striving to make the best of that reality.  No, it's not an easy path, and he doesn't always like the way things work out - but in the end, Daniel is very much a survivor.  I admire that about him.  So, in this video I attempted to trace a path through the key events in Daniel's life.  Then it closes with a reminder of what Daniel does best - be there for those he loves.  I hope you enjoy.

Legacy

episode vid --  rated 'teen & above viewers'  -- song Unwell by Matchbox 20 -- Jan 2004 -- 9.6 MB

Author's NotesLegacy is one of my favorite episodes, and when I heard this song it just seemed near perfect.  Points worth mentioning - this is my first video that is not specifically made with a Daniel/Janet focus (although I can't be held accountable for any perceived "ship") and I think it's the first time I've done one that uses scenes in strict chronological order.

A Tribute to Lifeboat

episode vid with Daniel/Janet focus -- rated 'teen & above viewers' -- song from Jekyll & Hyde  -- Jan 2004 -- 8.6 MB

Author's Notes:  Admittedly, I'm not as pleased with this video as the others, primarily because I don't think the song fits perfectly with the overall feel of the episode.  In fact, if you can believe it, the song is a wee bit too suggestive of ship - at least moreso than I wanted to convey in this video.  However, I wanted to do a Lifeboat video for a project the danandjan mailing list was working on - after searching my CD selection for a suitable song, "Take Me As I Am" from the musical Jekyll & Hyde, worked better than anything else I considered.  I was also working under something of a time constraint.  So, in the end, I chose to be content with what I had available.   I figure if I find a song I like better in the future, I can always make a second video.  J  Anyway, hope you enjoy this one.

If interested, you can also download my Lifeboat wallpaper.  Oh, and the quote, used both in the video and the wallpaper, is from Shakespeare.

Best of Me

Daniel/Janet -- rated 'teen & above viewers' -- song by Barry Manilow -- Nov 2003 -- 10.1 MB

Author's Notes:  Confession time... I've been a Barry Manilow fan since  -  well, since about birth.  It was only a matter of time before one of his songs became inspiration for a Daniel/Janet video.  Interestingly enough, this one sparked my creative muse while I was painting my kitchen.  Go figure.

If I Were Your Woman

Daniel/Janet -- rated 'teen & above viewers' -- song by Gladys Knight & the Pips -- Fall 2003 -- 7.9 MB

Author's Notes:  Ran across this song while flipping through radio channels, and it fairly screamed at me as a vid idea, complete with instant scene/clip selections lodging in my brain.  Bugged me enough that I followed through.  Just for the record, despite what you'll see in this vid, I do not have anything against Sha're.  I always liked her character... Really!   I mean, it was Amonet who kept messing things up, right?  And, as long as the creative powers behind Stargate SG-1 decided to end that particular plot-line as they did, might as well use it to Janet's advantage, don't you think?  J

Come to Me

Daniel/Janet -- rated 'teen & above viewers' -- song by Bonnie Raitt -- Fall 2003 -- 10.3 MB

Author's Notes:  Purchased the Luck of the Draw CD so I could do my first video.  Admittedly, I don't really care for any of the other songs on the disc, but this one did catch my attention.   The result is a vid that is extremely playful in nature.  I mean, as any good D/J Shipper knows, Janet is crazy about Daniel... but don't you sometimes wish she'd just TELL the man!  <ahem>  Well, if she ever does, this might be how it could play out.  Oh, and be forewarned - there's gratuitous Daniel-promotion in this vid.   All on behalf of dear Janet, of course.  J
